Slagmaur: Svin Review
by ©Scarlet Metal & www.whoresofchaos.com
October 6, 2007

Slagmaur marks the return of pure hate summoned ashore, after over a decade of raging
in the blackest depths of a northern sea. Evoking the essence of an amorphous indestructible
wrath, 'Nekk Brekk Support' slowly marches forth descending in a hypnotic spiralling fog
as it pervades and electrifies the air in homage to early Burzum. A succession of shrill
discordant eerie keyboard notes signal the night terror of 'Skrell Skjær Svin' in a
terrifying lullabye to a despicable whimpering traitor of a man reduced to a porcine
nemesis hogtied. One by one, each enemy is violently wrenched out of pleasant slumber,
only to be led into the nightmare of inevitable slaughter by 'Skrekk Slegg Slag'.
The carnage of the wraithlike phantoms battles on by command of their vengeful masters
in a pounding march to 'Heng Them Høyt'. In a layer of frost, the remains of enemies
are hung on ice covered branches as they sway to and fro' in the punitive maelstrom of
cold whirring instrumentation. An eternity of mental anguish, ever recurring hallucinations
and inexplicable horrific darkness overcome the betrayers thus destroying the equilibrium
of their collective mind in the final track 'Will Sher Svain'.

Much is to be said for the authenticity of hatred which served as a catalyst in the
creation of this powerful music. The violent underlying current of this release enraptures
and mesmerizes. Overall sound and atmosphere is completely unique to Slagmaur,
although influences of Norwegian second wave black ambient metal predominate.

Slagmaur is General Gribbsphiiser, Åtselgribb and LT Wardr.
