Old: Down With The Nails

Experience the blakk thrash ritual of ‘Down With the Nails’ under a moonless
evening sky or at least open the windows wide and breathe in the night as you take
in this dark display. It’s meant to be heard without interruption..all the way to the
ninth ring of hell! To my discriminating elven ears, production on this release is
raw blakk beauty..the kind of aural perfection to anxiously anticipate sinking my
fangs into. Influences from 80’s thrash, both first and second wave blakk metal are
heard throughout. However, instrumentation and guitar riffing are no common
thrashfare here, making Old’s style and sound distinctively their own.
Reaper’s riveting wildcat growls and blakk vox are as captivating as they are
unnerving. Although some effects are used, his vocals are unusually dimensional
and at times he’s strongly if not eerily reminiscent of Quorthon (Bathory).

Deep within the black forest is the portal to the ‘Black Jewel Throne’
Dark eyes flash from behind the moonlit trees, a being emerges and places a
rough black diamond into the seeker's hands. They hold the uncut jewel
with both hands as it begins to throb..resonating an ancient chtonic tone.
Suddenly they are motioned to close their eyes, spiralling downward
to another midpaced level of darkness. As they open their eyes, his head
appears to slowly turn 360 with black all consuming flames burning in his
eye sockets. Crimson is the unbroken King, eyes eternally aglow..nostrils flaring
as they place the rough jewel into the Beast’s massive clawed hand.
The cult of the ‘Blood Skull’ now enters with it’s fast paced brutality
as the great hall fills with blood. Whilst scrying, the being stares into it
with conviction only to have his own image reflected back in a self fulfilling
prophecy. The furious pace leads into the next phase of the ritual as
the seekers are driven to release the black essence from it’s corporeal
trappings through ‘Lust in Red’. The creature then shapeshifts into yet another
great beast and like a werewolf it laps up the blood ‘Under the Sign of Death'
thus swallowing it's own life essence. It pauses for a moment hearing the legions
of chaos marching up to the surface to set the ’Empire In Flames’.
‘A Knife’ to fall upon for another and a ‘Triumph of Hell’ as it’s reimprisoned once
again in flesh. A ‘Scream of Hell’ at the moment of His conception into the
groove of sealing the fate of All that is false: “Down With The Nails!”

For fans of Celtic Frost/Hellhammer, Slaughter, Bathory,
Possessed, Darkthrone,  Burzum, Mayhem, Venom, Sodom, Destruction.
