Gorgoroth: Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam review by
©Scarlet Metal & www.whoresofchaos.com
January 10, 2007
With this 2006 release, the members of Gorgoroth achieved
the near impossible which was to successfully conjure and spew forth
something as blakk as each of their own original essence. Regardless of
the outcome of the music awards, Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam is and
will remain a pivotal work of extreme metal excellence.
‘Wound Upon Wound’ evokes images of extreme carnage as it
spirals forth with guitars in full hyperspeed fueled by the ultrabrutal
percussion of a futuristic multibladed death machine. One realizes
there’s no escape as the old school groove of the superblakk ectoplasm
that is ‘Carving A Giant’ seeps under the door along with the ultimate
aural weapon: He who is now in total command of that which once
possessed him. ‘God Seed’ initiates the frenzied spinning blakk cyclone
into which the Idols disappear. ‘Sign of an Open Eye’ presages the
apocalyptic anticosmic winds as they swirl into the chaos of ‘White
Seed’.‘Exit’ then opens the portal through which ‘Untamed Forces’ are unleashed upon the
masses, ushering in a dark new age of ‘Prosperity and Beauty’.
