F.O.A.D. by ©Scarlet Metal & www.whoresofchaos.com
Bitter black n'rollicking..thrashy at times with less punk
attitude than 'The Cult Is Alive' and more heavy metal (NWOBHM)
influence with some totally killer riffing by the Misanthrope. The
vocal acrobatic feats of Fenriz on 'Canadian Metal' must also be heard
to be believed! Darkthrone has achieved new heights of musicanship in
F.O.A.D. sounding like they had quite a blast in the process. http://www.peaceville.com/darkthrone/foad
Wise men have always said "never say never" but I never
thought I'd hear Fenriz hitting a few falsetto-metal high notes on a
Darkthrone release. Fear not diehards! there's nothing sappy here but
the pine forest 'surround sound'..it's their usual inimitable 'beer,
blood n' spit sizzling away on eroded cables' norskestellar
production. Carried over and continuing from their last release 'The
Cult Is Alive' are the not-so-subliminal messages like 'These Shores
Are Damned***' for the "parasites", their adoring fans, their stalker
creeps and last but not least- their all time favs: the dregs of the
"true entertainment business". Seriously though, bravo to Nocturno
Culto..who sounds like a crazed axedraugen as he smokes onto even
higher planes of riffing.
the Norwegian edition has a strange poster of Fenriz +
some "pretty" scary postcards in necro technicolor.. an oxymoron indeed, but
then you have to see to believe...
