Arch Enemy: Black Earth (US reissue)
Review by ©Scarlet Metal www.scarletmetal.com

Thrashing to death in the same way it did back in 1996, is the first US reissue
of the Swedish death metal classic Black Earth! Johan Liiva's vox is brutally
unique to this day in it's inimitable perfection over this timeless masterpiece!
A frozen Nordic glaze covers the undertones of influences from both British
heavy/blakk/punk metal and American heavy/death metal. Guitar riffing ranges
from a raw unmatched death thrash metal style of the highest order to
the melodic acoustic interluding that never detracts from the devastatingly
crushing atmosphere. This praise is in no way meant to minimize the greatness
of the Angela Gossow version of Arch Enemy which is equally brilliant in
having produced Burning Bridges as it's own magnum opus.

Highly recommended to fans of death, thrash and heavy metal.
Instrumentation, composition and lyrics were groundbreaking in 1996
and still serve as a superior example as well as a point of historical
reference to aspiring metal musicians today.
